Breast Cancer Mortality Map
In order to change the picture of breast cancer, we made a map so we could see in which parts of the world had the most deaths from breast cancer per capita.
The mortality map is already available by the IARC (World Health Organization’s cancer agency), and is designated according to countries. But we went a step further and compiled data from the CDC to also understand which States are impacted the most using the same measurements as the IARC.
This is the first time breast cancer mortality has been shown on a global scale with States included. As more data becomes available, we’d love to further map out where the problem areas are so we can know where our work is needed the most.
When we mapped out the USA, it’s clear where breast cancer is the biggest problem. What is it like where you live?
Today we have done studies with partners in two “pink” countries: Nigeria and Malaysia. As you can see, we still have a lot more work to do. Donate to help us reach more of the world to change this picture of breast cancer for good.
Some statistics to know:
1.7 million women are told each year “you have breast cancer.” This equals about one person a minute.
Breast Cancer is the most common cancer worldwide, in developed and developing countries.
When breast cancer is found in the earliest stages, the cure rate is nearly 100%, making early detection critical.
