How to
self-exam
A self-exam is not a hunt for breast cancer. It’s a way of knowing the normal landscape of your breasts. That way if something does change, it’s easier to find it early.
How to Self-Exam
Cover the full area from the armpits to the collarbone to the bottom of the ribcage
Do a self-exam a few days after your period ends, or if you are not menstruating, on the same day of each month
Use three positions to change the landscape of your breasts: lying on your back, bending forward, and standing in front of a mirror
What to look for
Milk lobes and lymph nodes are normal lumps in your breast that feel like soft peas or soft beans. Cancerous lumps often feel hard, like a lemon seed. They can be any shape or size.
