Can’t get in to get your regular mammogram? Self-exam while you wait.
COVID-19 and social distancing implementations mean a majority of screening and imaging centers have postponed mammograms for people who have NO SYMPTOMS. But not much has changed for those who do find a symptom. You should still report any breast changes to your doctor when you find them. Early detection is no less important now.
For those of you stressing about missing your mammogram, this can be a great opportunity for you to get to “Know Your Lemons” through self-exam.
Self-exams make it easier to spot changes between your mammograms. This way if you do notice something different, you don’t have to wait for your next mammogram—even now during lockdown—and let your doctor know. While self-exams don’t replace mammograms by any means, they give you a chance to learn the normal lumps and bumps in your breasts. Not sure how to self-exam? Our app and website can help!
