Crumbl Cookies Breast Cancer Awareness Month Campaign Saves Customer’s Life
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time when companies and organizations all over the world raise awareness about the disease. While the pink ribbon has become the universal symbol for breast cancer awareness, Know Your Lemons moves beyond the pink ribbon, turning awareness into action.
Early detection saves lives and Know Your Lemons helps do both.
Know Your Lemons educates people worldwide about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer through their innovative "Know Your Lemons" campaign. The campaign uses an image of 12 lemons in an egg carton to represent the 12 signs of breast cancer, making it easy for women to understand and remember what to look for, even years after first seeing the image.
In 2021 and 2022, Crumbl Cookies, a popular cookie chain, partnered with Know Your Lemons for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For one week in October, Crumbl Cookies featured a pink cookie lineup, with a portion of the proceeds and customer donations going to the foundation to help them spread their campaign and save lives from breast cancer across the globe.
The campaign was a huge success, with people all over the country sharing pictures of their pink cookies on social media and thanking Crumbl Cookies and the Know Your Lemons Foundation for making breast cancer awareness turn into breast cancer action. They raised over $70,000 for early detection education in the first year alone. But what was even more remarkable was the number of people who credit the campaign with saving their lives.
Several women shared stories of how they had seen the "Know Your Lemons" campaign on social media or while buying cookies in Crumbl Cookie store and decided to do a self-exam or recognized a sign in themselves and were able to get treatment early. Kelli credits seeing the Crumbl x Know Your Lemons campaign for saving her life through early detection.
This is a powerful example of the impact that corporate partnerships can have on raising awareness about breast cancer and saving lives. While the pink ribbon has certainly helped to raise awareness about the disease, it is important to move beyond the ribbon and explore other ways to educate women about breast cancer and promote early detection education.
The Know Your Lemons Foundation's approach does just that. By using a simple, easy-to-understand image, they are able to reach a wide audience and educate women about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer in a way that is empowering and
overcomes the cultural taboos and literacy issues that have held back breast cancer ‘awareness’ for decades.
When more companies partner with the Know Your Lemons campaign for breast cancer awareness month in October, imagine the lives that could be saved, today. By doing so, companies can make a real difference in the fight against breast cancer and potentially save the lives of their customers and employees.
While the pink ribbon has helped to raise awareness about the disease, there are other organizations and campaigns that are making a real difference in the fight against breast cancer. The Know Your Lemons campaign is a great example of this in action, and more companies should partner with them to raise awareness about the signs and symptoms of breast cancer and to promote early detection. Let's move beyond the ribbon and explore new and innovative ways to educate women about breast cancer and save lives.
