Know Your Lemons + Season For Squeezin’

Turning breast cancer awareness into action, Season for Squeezin’ and the Know Your Lemons Foundation join forces to empower women with breast health education that leads to early detection, saving lives.

[Salt Lake City, September 5] – The Know Your Lemons Foundation and Season for Squeezin' are proud to announce an innovative partnership aimed at revolutionizing the breast cancer awareness landscape by empowering women to take proactive steps toward their health.

Julie Hogan was 37 when she found her lump while putting on her bathing suit. Now she’s making it her mission to remind you to squeeze yourself, next time you suit up. She notes, "Language matters in how we talk about breast cancer. We hear from medical professionals, ‘practice breast awareness’ and ‘perform a self-breast exam’ - what does that even mean? What we do instead is use action language, reminding people to ‘squeeze’ when their bodies are already out in the summer - and not wait until October.”

Know Your Lemons Foundation, the global trailblazer in breast health education, is renowned for its friendly approach to breast health education that saves lives from breast cancer through early detection. Using 12 friendly lemons to initiate breast cancer education discussions, Know Your Lemons educates women in 60+ countries worldwide. Their work has been seen by 1.85 billion people since 2017 and has been translated into 34 languages.

After seeing one another’s mutual admiration of citrus fruits, the two non-profit organizations quickly saw an opportunity to collaborate to improve women’s health. United in their messages that resonate action over awareness, the two are launching a cobranded campaign to partner with swimwear brands who want to empower women with a positive and actionable healthcare message by putting a Season for Squeezin’ reminder tag on their suits. The back of the tag directs customers to download the Know Your Lemons app where they can learn to self-exam with confidence from Mona Lisa or Napoleon and get all other breast health questions answered in an approachable way that eliminates confusion.

Dr. Corrine Ellsworth-Beaumont, the founder and CEO of the Know Your Lemons Foundations notes, “There is so much confusion around breast self-exams. Doctors tell women to ‘practice breast awareness’ but no one actually knows what that means. So we are making it easy for women to access the information needed to save their lives - and we do it with a little bit of zest! Our free mobile app takes the guesswork out of self-exams and is helping to redefine what ‘self-exam’ means - NOT a hunt for cancer, but about knowing your body and being able to recognize changes in your breasts early.”

Julie Hogan with Season for Squeezin’ shares her excitement about the partnership: "Our collaboration with Know Your Lemons Foundation represents a dynamic shift in how we approach breast cancer awareness. By incorporating the 'squeeze' concept into everyday experiences like wearing a swimsuit, and coupling it with the resources provided by Know Your Lemons, we're turning awareness into action, one squeeze at a time."
