New Charity Partner! Byrd Cancer Education and Advocacy Foundation

The Byrd Cancer Education and Advocacy Foundation is dedicated to empowering individuals in their fight against cancer by providing crucial support and essential resources. Our mission is to deliver pertinent information and guide individuals towards the necessary tools to effectively combat their cancer journey.

We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Know Your Lemons, as both organizations have personal connections to cancer. From our Vice President, Shogunny McBeth-Alexander, a breast cancer thriver, to board members Curry J. Bailey III and Alvin R. Fields, who have overcome prostate cancer, each member of the Byrd team has a unique experience with cancer. Our President, Dr. Nia Imani Bailey, carries the BCL6 cancer gene, and Brittany Young, our Development Director, lost her father to stomach cancer. Additionally, board members Narda Fields and Shannon Stones have lost loved ones to multiple myeloma and breast cancer. Byrd's medical advisor, Dr. Monique Gary, lost her mother to ovarian cancer at a young age. Even our LGBTQIA+ Directors, Katelyn and Jenna Bucolo, have been impacted by cancer through pediatric and breast cancer diagnoses in their families. Board member Jarrod Hill's great grandparents battled breast and prostate cancer.

Despite the personal experiences with cancer, all of Byrd's board members are united in their mission to lower the cancer mortality rate by providing resources and tools to ALL communities. The partnership with Know Your Lemons is an exciting opportunity to connect ALL individuals with adequate resources and contribute to the collective effort of reducing the mortality rate.
