At Know Your Lemons, we are proud to work alongside incredible partners who share our mission of making breast health education and early detection accessible to all. One such outstanding partner is the Mammogram Access Program (MAP), led by one of our outstanding Lemonistas, Nikeia Watson. MAP is an organization dedicated to ensuring that every woman in The Bahamas has the opportunity to receive life-saving mammogram screenings—no matter her socio-economic status or location.
A Thousand Miles Corporate Partnership Program: A Journey of Hope and Progress
Mammogram Access Program (MAP) is thrilled to launch the Journey of A Thousand Miles Corporate Partnership Program, a groundbreaking initiative designed to engage the corporate community in a mission that saves lives. This program invites companies to partner with MAP in a meaningful way, supporting their goal to restore mammogram screening services to underserved women. Their mission for 2025 is to screen 500 women, reaching a crucial level of care that matches the pre-Hurricane Matthew screening numbers in 2016. Each mile sponsored represents a step closer to equitable breast health access, where every woman, regardless of her circumstances, can receive the care she deserves. To date, 12% of this goal has already been achieved. MAP is in the final stages of implementing proprietary software to streamline the screening process and ensure efficient, personalized care for each patient. Click here to sponsor a mile and help MAP reach its goal of providing 500 mammograms in 2025.

In recognition of World Cancer Day on February 4, MAP hosted an impactful event at Pelican Bay in Grand Bahama under the theme “United by Unique.” Mrs. Ann Marie Davis, spouse of the Prime Minister of The Bahamas and honorary Know Your Lemons Lemonista spoke at the event, welcoming new certified Know Your Lemons educators (Lemonistas), encouraging them to “be a beacon of hope, guiding women to a path of proactive health.” She also led an educational session, demonstrating her leadership in breast health advocacy. Mrs. Davis commended MAP’s founder, Nikeia Watson, for her dedication to increasing mammogram accessibility in the Northern Bahamas and highlighted the life-saving importance of screening. 84 persons were registered for the event. This does not include the members of the press, and other unregistered personnel that were in the room. By embracing the “United by Unique” theme, they were able to highlight the importance of individualized care and community unity in the fight against breast cancer.
Empowering Communities with Breast Health Education
Beyond providing screenings, MAP is committed to equipping communities with the knowledge they need to take charge of their breast health. As part of this mission, MAP recently welcomed five new breast health educators—known as “Lemonistas” at the Know Your Lemons Foundation. These educators encourage women in their communities to take proactive steps toward early detection through interactive teaching sessions.

Additionally Nikeia Watson, founder of MAP had this to say,
“We extend our sincere thanks to the Know Your Lemons Foundation for inspiring our educational initiatives and look forward to our continued collaboration in promoting breast health awareness.”
