World Cancer Day 2025 and Know Your Lemons

World Cancer Day is an international day observed every 4 February to raise awareness about cancer, encourage its prevention, and mobilise action to address the global cancer epidemic.

How Know Your Lemons is Involved

The day is led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). Know Your Lemons is a member of the UICC whose mission is to unite and support the cancer community to reduce the global cancer burden, to promote greater equity, and to ensure that cancer control continues to be a priority in the world health and development agenda.

“United By Unique” World Cancer Day Theme

The World Cancer Day theme 2025-2027, “United by Unique” places people at the centre of care and explores new ways of making a difference.

Cancer is more than just a medical diagnosis—it’s a deeply personal matter. Behind every diagnosis lies a unique human story - stories of grief, pain, healing, resilience, love and more.

Every experience with cancer is unique and it will take all of us, united, to create a world where we look beyond the disease and see the person before the patient. A world where the needs of people and communities are at the centre of health systems.

Join us on 4 February and help us make a difference.

5 Ways to take action for World Cancer Day

If you are a breast cancer survivor, advocate, or are passionate about educating on early detection we would love your help in promoting our work on social media! With unique material and collab opportunities our ambassador program is a great way to raise awareness on World Cancer Day.

By taking a free 3 hour breast health course you can be a certified Know Your Lemons educator or “Lemonista”. We have Lemonistas around the world teaching the importance of early detection of breast cancer in their communities. Take the course and schedule your teaching session in honor of World Cancer Day.

As a charity partner with Know Your Lemons you have the great opportunity to increase your capacity to educate and improve early detection in the communities you serve. Apply today and be involved in our four yearly campaigns, including World Cancer Day!

Your story has power. When you share your views you bring valuable insight and humanity to the conversation. Your story can inform, energize and inspire. Share how breast cancer has effected your life and why early detection is so important for World Cancer Day!
